No Use Empty are proud to announce that their very own, Jake Body picked up the “Rising Star Award – Sponsored by Fraser and Fraser” for his great efforts in bringing empty properties back into use. The national Empty Homes Network Conference 2023 was held in Birmingham on 24th May 2023.

Adam Cliff of The Empty Homes Network welcomed Jake to stage to collect his award and said “Jake’s mature nature approach and professionalism are evidently paying dividends for the organisation, and with Jake’s continuing thirst to learn through the progression of his housing studies, it is clear that he will continue to be an asset to a well established and well respected team. Jake is to be hugely congratulated, as this year’s joint winner of the Rising Star Award”.

Upon receiving the award, Jake Body said ” I am extremely proud to have been nominated and to win the ‘Rising Star Award’ at the National Empty Homes Conference. I would like to thank everyone who have supported me since joining Kent County Council as an Apprentice with the Economic Development Team to joining the No Use Empty team where I am now a Project Officer. Receiving this award has motivated me even more to achieve my goals and to progress even further”.

Jake’s manager, Steve Grimshaw said “I am a firm believer that if you are prepared to work hard, put in the extra effort by studying or gaining wider job experience  then your goals can be achieved. Jake is already on his way to passing the Chartered Institute of Housing Level 3 qualification having completed Level 2 last year. Nominating Jake was a pleasure. I am extremely proud of his achievements to date and pleased that the Empty Homes Network have acknowledged this.”
