Thanet District Council (TDC) and No Use Empty (NUE) are pleased to announce a new £1m project, aimed at owner occupiers who wish to buy a long term empty property (more than 6 months) and need a helping hand to cover the cost of refurbishment.
The owner / occupier loan scheme, which will operate in the housing intervention areas of Cliftonville West and Margate Central, will provide secured interest free loans (up to a maximum of £20,000.00), to those who wish to bring an empty property back into use.

In order to be eligible for the loan applicants must be able to substantiate that the loan amount will be adequate funding to bring the property back into use, or be able to prove that sufficient personal funds are available to use in conjunction with the loan to complete the project.
The applicant will also be required to live in the renovated property for a minimum period of five years following completion of the project. Failure to do so will result in default.
Loan repayments will commence 30 days after the loan monies are paid to the applicant and will be interest free, providing there is no default over the repayment period, which will be variable between 5 and 10 years, dependant on the amount borrowed.
